Camp William Penn Lake plus Shelby and Clay makes for the most fun I have had on an engagement session in a long time! When I spoke with them before the session we were trying to figure out the best place to photograph and Shelby was very set on shooting at an outdoor place. A good friend of mine recommended this amazing location really far out in Pennslyvania. I don’t mind driving to a location for amazing photos. I showed Clay and Shelby this hidden location and they were 100% on board from the start. I was so excited about getting to shoot here that I was so eager to leave and take the two-hour drive out to PA. It was 2 hours and boy was it worth it! 🙂 Let me tell you why!
THEIR LOVE STORY
So Clay and Shelby met when they were in high school but it wasn’t until after they graduated when they started dating. When I asked Shelby how they fell in love she said that “How much we make each other laugh. We’re rarely serious. But even in the most serious moments one of us will crack a joke. Usually Clay.” They are just so happy and that through their laughter that they found love for eachother. Shelby is really into abandoned places and as you can see in their photos, black is one of her favorite colors. So Clay had such a brilliant idea on how to propose to Shelby! He took her to one of her favorite spots, an abandoned asylum.
Now, there is another love story I cannot forget to mention! The love story of Clay and Derek! Derek and Clay have this secret, yet not so secret love between them. They definitely wanted to show how much Derek cared for Clay during this session! I definitely wanted to make sure we played up that within their photos. It was so much fun incorporating Derek into their images. He somehow pushed his way into some of the shots too ;).
IF YOUR LOVE STORY WAS MADE INTO A MOVIE – WHAT WOULD YOU TITLE IT?
Apple Blossom because that is Clay’s song to Shelby by the White Stripes
