KC and Mike met during the summer of 2012 at a training session for a national non-profit which they both had worked at. He ran the Denver office and she ran the Philadelphia office. It wasn’t until the fall of that year where they reconnected when she traveled to Denver to work on the election. His house was a mile from her hotel so they were able to see each other the entire week she was there. She says that she remembers specifically calling out the last day of the election so they can hang out on her last day in Denver. They ended up watching the election returns together.
After that, it was months of Skype sessions and getting to know each other through text messages. They spent time together when Mike came to the east coast for the holidays, friend’s wedding and when KC visited him in Denver. It wasn’t until Mike moved back to New Jersey permanently that they officially started dating. From there, it was weekend traveling from Philadelphia to Jersey City to see each other. They moved in together in the summer of 2016.
Mike popped the question at 11:59 on New Year’s Eve 2018 at a beer garden in Washington D.C.
KC and Mike will be tieing the knot at the Moorestown Community House on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
