Kaitlin and Ray’s engagement session was a dream come true. Every January my family and I take a trip to Las Vegas and this year I decided I wanted to do some work while I was in town. So I ran a free engagement session contest and chose 2 lucky winners to photograph while I was there. Luckily, Kaitlin and Ray entered my contest because let me tell you, they are the sweetest couple I have worked with. Their personalities match perfectly and they are some of the most humble and thankful people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
When I met with them we had brainstormed some ideas on locations. They were really set on Mount Charleston which was about 45 minutes northwest of Las Vegas. In fact, it technically still was Las Vegas, and when I tell you Toto wasn’t in Kansas anymore, I felt like we were in a completely different area of the country. This place has major significance to them because it was where Ray had proposed to her.
Anyways, we end up running an hour and a half behind because of some traffic jam getting to the lodge. But let me tell you, that was a blessing in disguise because the sunlight was perfect and no matter where we stood, the lighting was spectacular and I couldn’t have been happier with how the images came out.
Being from the North East, we don’t have mountains in New Jersey like they do out in Nevada. The sights were breathtaking and I felt like the images were paintings. We had about 100 yards to work with and we were surrounded with tons of people.
My favorite thing was that Ray showed up in a button-down shirt with little Mickey Mouses on it from H&M. A little homage to the Mouse himself added a nice Disney touch to the images. Kaitlin showed up in this beautiful long black dress and these silver studded heels. I give her a lot of props for wearing heals like this in the snow up in the mountains.
TO THE LOVELY COUPLE
Kaitlin and Ray, thank you so much for allowing me to capture your love behind my lens. I am truly honored to have been your photographer for your engagement session! I cannot wait to continue to work with both of you. I wish you both nothing but the best and happiness in your life together. Here is to the future Mr. and Mrs. Monterde.
